Once again, I had the privilege of immersing myself in the genuine warmth and joy of human connections, punctuated by fleeting moments of reflection. This past Saturday, our dancing group, Talentos Group, participated in the Black History Multicultural Celebration in Harlow, located west of Essex and 50 miles from London.
Efue, our point of contact for the festival, enthusiastically shared that this annual celebration has been a vibrant tradition since 2008. Its mission is to commemorate the rich multicultural tapestry of the area and foster community integration, with a specific focus on nurturing connections among local Black and Minority Ethnic citizens.

The day initially dawned with a touch of grey, but as the afternoon unfolded, radiant sunshine gracefully accompanied our dance performances.
With each passing hour, the sun infused our movements with amazing energy, casting a luminous glow on our day. In these moments, I sensed a connection to yet another shard of joy. Challenges seemed to dissolve as we painted our day with the vibrant hues of dance and music, melodies that my senses embraced with immense delight.

As I journeyed, rhythmic symbols crossed my path, momentarily halting me and narrating tales of the magnificence of our kind, our divine spirit.
Today, we commemorate diversity by merging into the synchronised dance of the universe. As the day unfolded, local residents gathered to partake in a myriad of activities, from poetry and food stalls to singing. Among my favourites were the performances by the Efue Sey Academy, featuring African drumming and dance, and, of course, our very own Talentos Group. We delighted the vibrant and lively people of Harlow with four traditional Colombian dances, adding to the rich tapestry of cultural celebrations.

Colombians are blessed with an incredibly rich heritage derived from the vibrant black African community.
In light of this, I’ve crafted the video below, trying to encapsulate our memorable day in Harlow. The video features a song by The Sexteto Tabala from San Basilio de Palenque, a town in northern Colombia, symbolising our profound African roots.
Today, my heart is filled with immense gratitude for yet another day steeped in the joyous embrace of music.
