After an amazing first day in Malta. My second day was again very hectic, however absolutely delightful. I booked a cruise with a local company called Sea Adventures to explore the islands of Gozo and Comino. This was a full day experience and cost only €25. Since everything is so small in Valletta it was easy to get transport from central Valletta to the little town Bugibba where the cruise departs from.
The tour started from the Promenade II Islands, St. Paul’s Bay, where the Sea Adventure, catamaran Sea Adventure was all set. From the very beginning, I could appreciate the exceptional sight in front of me, where the immensity of Malta rocky coastline was awaiting for me.
The first sight was the tiny island of St. Paul’s, with its famous sculpture of the apostle Saint Paul. I am sure my super catholic sister-in-law would have loved to see this.
We continued along the transparent turquoise water at the Blue Lagoon, northwest of Comino Island. This lagoon is truly is impressive, to see the beautiful shades of water was something! The boat only stops here during the summer season, therefore for us, it was only a quick sight passing by from the catamaran, who was already breath-taking enough for me.
COMINO
We continued to Comino docking area and stop to one hour to witness the beautiful sights and walk a little around the island. I did not want to go in the water but rather stayed on the beach enjoying a good sex on the beach 🙂 (cocktail!) and relaxing, I could not ask for more, the weather was great, this was a good idea to escape to cold December weather in London.
I found this a great season because it did not feel crowded at all, while in summer I believe the story would be different.
We continue cruising north and stopped at the harbour town of Mġar in south-eastern Gozo. In here we could “upgrade” for €5 to the centre city of Victoria, the Capital city of Gozo. I took the option and went on. This small charming city named Victoria after the Queen of England, but is more commonly referred to as Rabat by the locals. By the time I was getting already hungry when suddenly I bumped into a vegan restaurant! Voila! The universe conspiring in my favour!
GOZO – CITTADELLA
After lunch, I continue my visit to the famous Citadella which rises high above the thin curving streets of Gozo. God knows how hard it was to build it here. What a spectacular visit. The view standing by the walls is magnificent. The actual walk around is free of charge, charges to access some chapels, however, I was happy just walking around, the view is out of this world! I felt like walking back in time. I had a great time getting lost in the alleyways of the Citadella, taking my pictures and mini-clips, while imagining its inhabitants throughout history.
Few families live still within the Citadel walls today. In the main square is located the Cathedral of Gozo dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, I can stop imagining again my sister-in-law here, who is super catholic and love visiting churches.
Very close to the Citadella there are numerous and interesting museums: The Cathedral Museum, the Museum of Archaeology, the Folklore Museum, the Gozo Nature Museum, the Old Prison, the Old Gunpowder Magazine, the Grain Silos, the Battery and the World War II Shelter.
Once back to the harbour when started to return to Bugibba, but not before passing by the Crystal Lagoon for more amazing views, ending with a break taking sunset before arriving back to St Paul Bay.
Then back to the airport on the Uber equivalent “Bolt” which took under 1 hr to arrive at Malta Airport.
This second day was truly fantastic, super good value for money experience along the rocky coastline, beautiful lagoons and remarkable landmarks and history. The waters are so incredible that I am still thinking on going back in summer..
